Dr Stephanie Owen Reeder is a freelance author, illustrator, editor and reviewer of children’s books. Stephanie’s first picture book, The Flaming Witch, was published in 1997 by Random House. Stephanie has had fifteen children’s books published, including: Lost! A True Tale from the Bush, shortlisted in the CBCA Book of the Year Awards 2010; I’ve Got a Feeling!, an IBBY Outstanding Book for Young People with a Disability 2011; Amazing Grace: An Adventure at Sea, winner of the New South Wales Premier’s Young People’s History Prize 2012; Lennie the Legend: Solo to Sydney by Pony, shortlisted in the NSW Premier’s History Awards 2015 and winner of the CBCA Children’s Book of the Year Award 2016; Marvellous Miss May, Queen of the Circus, shortlisted for the NSW Premier’s History Award 2018 and a CBCA Notable Book 2019 and Trouble in the Surf, illustrated by Briony Stewart, a CBCA Notable book 2020. Stephanie has been involved in the children’s literature field as a critic, editor, academic, author and illustrator for over thirty years. A mother of three, including twins, and grandmother of three, Stephanie lives in Canberra, the capital of Australia.
