ABOUT SUSAN DETWILER

I am the illustrator of several picture books and the author/illustrator of one. My illustrations have been published in children’s magazines, and also used for advertising, puzzles, and greeting cards. I was raised in Maryland and received my education at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, where I live with my artist husband. We have two sons.
ARTIST STATEMENT
The joy of making things has been a part of my life for as far back as I remember, and I love a story that makes me think and empathize. Books have always had an important place in my life, and as a child I was especially attracted by books with beautiful illustrations; it is my hope to inspire such feelings in a child.
