ABOUT TARA M SANTORO

  • Tara grew up creating imaginary worlds in her New Jersey hometown known as “The Children’s Town” and home to the Gingerbread Castle. While working in bookstores her specialty was the Childrens’ department. This led her back to creating whimsical images using colored pencils and pen. Today she is working to help be part of the reason you turn the page.

ARTIST STATEMENT

  • Tara has had a passion for art since she was a child coloring in her oversized coloring books and filling reams of green and white striped paper with artwork that her father would bring home from work. Today she creates whimsical illustrative art using various mediums. Her preferred mediums are graphite, colored pencils and watercolor. She is a commissioned artist and is actively pursuing a career in children’s book illustration. One day she will be “part of the reason a child turns the page and picks a book from the shelf”
Tara’s art has been described as whimsical art that everyone can enjoy. Tara is a published artist in the Ann Kullberg Colored Pencil Hidden TreasuresVol IV and has been quoted in Colored Pencil Magazine. Her art work has been shared on social media by Ampersand and Daniel Smith. She has participated in numerous juried shows. Recently she received an Honorable Mention for her piece, “The Moments That Matter”, in the 11th Annual Morning Call Juried Show at The Baum School of Art in Allentown. This piece will also be featured in Allentown’s beautification project.
Tara is constantly striving to learn and grow as an artist. She is also a firm believer in artists supporting artists. Tara finds helping others find their artistic voice highly inspiring.
When not working or teaching, she can be found at home with her family.
