• Her future was in the cards…more specifically, in the kindergarten report card. Mrs. Reid wrote that Terri showed special interest in “writing and art in all forms.” So with a fistful of crayons that turned into colored pencils and then into gouache paints and digital art, Terri now illustrates for children’s books, magazines and educational materials.

In addition to illustrating children’s media, Terri is the Illustrators Coordinator for SCBWI in Illinois.

She gives fun and interactive school presentations focusing on her illustrated picture books, with an eye toward imparting visual literacy and creating narrative art.
When not following her kindergarten teacher’s accolades, Terri will take her camera and hike in the woods, splash in the surf or skate on thin ice. She is a certified dragonfly tracker and lives in the Chicago area with her husband and two sons, and a dog named Rosie.

  • If you feel safe in the area you’re working in, you’re not working in the right area. Always go a little further into the water than you feel you’re capable of being in. Go a little bit out of your depth. And when you don’t feel that your feet are quite touching the bottom, you’re just about in the right place to do something exciting.  ~David Bowie
