NWU Announces Financial Aid Webinar for Freelancers

The National Writers Union has issued a press release to announce a free webinar to help freelancers and digital media workers access financial aid amid the COVID-19 crisis. Their statement is the following:

Accessing Pandemic Unemployment Assistance & More

On Monday April 13, at 7pm EST, the Freelance Solidarity Project and National Writers Union will be hosting a webinar for freelancers and digital media workers on available coronavirus aid resources.

** Please RSVP through this form and you will get a Zoom link ahead of the meeting. **

Nicole Salk of Legal Aid will present and answer questions about applying for pandemic unemployment benefits as a 1099 worker. FSP member and lawyer Jessica Meiselman will cover other aspects of the CARES act (congressional stimulus), including applying for small business loans. Members are encouraged to bring questions related to their own work — this webinar will offer best practices for understanding the options available to freelancers, and making informed decisions during this time of crisis.
