2023 Art Show and Portfolio Showcase

Conference attendees have the opportunity to participate in the 2023 Conference Art Show & Portfolio Showcase. There is no additional charge to participate, but you must choose the Art Show & Portfolio Showcase option when you register to save your spot.  

What is the Art Show and Portfolio Showcase?

An opportunity for illustrators to display portfolios and have their work evaluated by the conference art director and conference attendees. Illustrators' work will be displayed during the conference sessions on both Friday, and Saturday.

Voting for the Art Show will take place on Saturday only. The GRAND PRIZE will be selected by the art director on faculty and winning entry will be awarded a 20 minute portfolio critique with our next online critique quest. 

There will also be a People’s Choice AWARD. Winners of the People’s Choice award will receive a $25 Amazon gift certificate. 

*All winning artwork will be posted to our social media accounts. A Name credit and web URL will appear with each image. 

Art Show Directions & Requirements:

• Artwork must be appropriate for the children’s book market.

• Size: Illustration should not exceed 17“ in either direction.

• Entries must be mounted on black foam core and printed on high-quality paper only.

• Print name title and contact info on back of mounted print.

• Artwork can be either B/W or Color.

• Artwork cannot be framed.

• Artwork must be an UNPUBLISHED illustration.

*Submitted work must be a mounted print. Original art will not be accepted.  

Portfolio Directions & requirements:

Portfolios should contain a maximum of 15 samples of your work (no originals). The maximum allowed width is 32” (measured while open). You may also display business cards and/or postcards. Tables will be set up with a labeled space for each participant. Portfolio drop off will be Friday and Saturday when you arrive, and pick it up before 5:00pm on Saturday.

*By entering the Art Show and Portfolio Showcase, it is understood that SCBWI Ohio North will take every precaution to care for your entry, but SCBWI Ohio North is not responsible for any damaged, lost or stolen prints. Artwork or portfolios not picked up by end of day Saturday will not be mailed back.

POSTCARD PACKS

These packs will be placed in the care packages that the art director, editors, and agents on faculty will receive. These packets will highlight the work of the illustrators in our region. If you would like your postcard to be included, please follow the guidelines below. 

Please send 10 postcards (no smaller than a 4×6, no larger than a 5×7) with an illustration and your name on the front (back is optional but a great way to show additional artwork) by Sept. 15th 2023.
