SCBWI Announces 2017 Magazine Merit Award Winners

The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2017 Merit Plaques and Honor Certificates for fiction, nonfiction, illustration, and poetry which appeared in magazines during the past year. The Plaque recipients are Timothy Tocher for his fiction piece "The Return of Sal Caputo”, which appeared in the May/June Cricket magazine; Susan Eaddy for her illustration on the cover of the April issue of Babybug; Buffy Silverman in Nonfiction for “Magical Monarchs” in the October issue of ASK Magazine; and Laura Wynkoop in Poetry for “Summer Nights”, which appeared in the August issue of Highlights.

2016 Honor Certificates will be awarded in Fiction to Linda Anderson for “Ghost Train (Part 2)” in the March Cricket; in Nonfiction to Debra Shumaker for “Where Did the Bison Go?” in the March Spider; in Illustration to Merrill Rainey for the front and back covers of the September/October Humpty Dumpty Magazine; and in Poetry to Susan A. Shea for “Short Circuit” in the January issue of Fun for Kidz
