SCBWI Announces 2019 Magazine Merit Awards

 

The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2019 Magazine Merit Awards for fiction, nonfiction, illustration, and poetry which appeared in magazines in 2018.

Noah Weisz won in the Fiction category for the thoughtful and lyrical piece “A Forest Full of Stars”, which appeared in the July 2018 issue of Highlights.

Merrill Rainey‘s richly textured art for the “Inside Front Cover–Humpty Dumpty’s World” for the July/August issue of Humpty Dumpty Magazine won in the Illustration category.

In the Nonfiction category, Elizabeth Pagel-Hogan won for her piece “Hands-On: Your Life As Art”, the story of a unique design project that sparked a friendship.

“Annie, Get Your Gum”, a bright and humorous poem Neal Levin published in the July 2018 issue of Spider, took the prize in the Poetry category, 

Our congratulations to all of the winners on their excellent work. The 2020 Magazine Merit Awards, for work published in 2019, will be announced in Fall 2020.
