SCBWI’s member-driven literacy initiative, Books For Readers, returns in 2018. SCBWI Books For Readers collects PAL/traditionally published donated books written and illustrated by SCBWI members and distributes them to organizations or causes that can use a library full of books ranging from picture books to YA novels, middle grade, nonfiction, graphic novels, and more.
Members can nominate organizations such as schools, literacy organizations, libraries, sites of man-made or natural disaster, and other such causes in need. Those nominated last year can be nominated again this year. A panel of judges consisting of SCBWI staff and members of the Board of Advisors pick the two recipients. The nomination period begins March 15 and goes through April 15. Last year, members generously nominated over 300 organizations and causes.
