THE ECHO PARK CASTAWAYS
SOMETIMES THE BEST FAMILY IS THE ONE YOU MAKE ON YOUR OWN
M.G. Hennessey
Synopsis
Nevaeh, Vic, and Mara are veterans of the Los Angeles foster care system. Vic spends most of his time living in a dream world, Mara barely speaks, and Nevaeh is forced to act as a back-up parent. Though their situation isn’t ideal, it’s still their best home yet.
When Child Protective Services places Quentin in their Echo Park foster home, everything is turned upside down. Quentin is having trouble adjusting, and attempts to run away. So when Vic realizes Quentin just wants to see his mom again, he plans an “epic quest” to reunite them.

I'm loving this minimalist cover with pastel shades, and I'm a sucker for anything with found-family. Very cool "about me" illustration picture, too--I will definitely check this book out!

An inside view of what it is like to be a foster child is intriguing in and of itself. The lesson about making family where you are is a powerful one.
