THE BATTLE OF JUNK MOUNTAIN
Lauren Abbey Greenberg
Synopsis
Twelve-year-old Shayne really depends on her summers at her grandmother’s house in Maine. She loves the yearly rituals of eating lobster rolls, searching for sea glass, and weaving friendship bracelets with her best friend Poppy. However, this summer everything is different. Poppy would rather talk about boys than bracelets, and Grandma Bea has morphed from quirky collector to full-on hoarder. Feeling her summer is slipping away, Shayne wages an all-out battle to rescue her grandmother, save her friendship, and protect the memories she loves the most.

From the Author
The Battle of Junk Mountain has all the hallmarks of a classic summer story: a beautiful setting, quirky characters, and a high-stakes adventure scene. But it also explores hoarding, a behavior that affects over one million people in the U.S., in a way that is sensitive, compassionate, and accessible to middle grade readers.
