EMILY’S RIDE TO COURAGE
Sarah Maury Swan
Synopsis
Twelve-year-old Emily Gordon and her older sister, Jen, are staying with Grandpa while their dad is in California and their mom is in Afghanistan. Emily loves being around Grandpa's and his neighbor's horses, but Jen hates it, taking out her anger on Emily. To make matters worse, Emily must do math homework all summer long so can have her own horse.
Grandpa won't buy the horse Emily wants and Jen's bullying gets worse. But with the help of her dream horse, Emily gains the courage to conquer her problems. How does she convince Grandpa to buy her horse? And how does she get Jen to be nicer?

Sarah would love to hear from you about your favorite horse story or horsey adventure. Or tell me what you're writing or drawing or what horse you're riding. There are more modern horse books worth reading, but it never hurts to read the classics.
