I am an author, blogger, social justice activist and self-publisher. I have an MBA in Management and Strategy through Western Governor's University, and a BA in Journalism and Public Communications through the University of Alaska Anchorage. I earned seven years of public service experience at Alaska's higher education agency. However, I transitioned to social justice activism and the pursuit of my life-long dream of being an author in 2015 after the wrongful conviction of my husband.
Christiane Joy Allison's first children's picture book, Why Can't Uncle Come Home?: A story for children struggling with the wrongful conviction of a loved one., has received 5 Honorable Mentions in the 2018 Purple Dragonfly Book Awards. Christiane was also selected as a Rasmuson Foundation 2018 Individual Artist Project Award recipient and will be using her grant in publishing the second book in the series, Timmy and Kate Go To Visit. These books help introduce children to social justice issues related to court and incarceration that affect young children. They can be used as introductions, or to help children who are directly affected. Why Can't Uncle Come Home? is the first picture book to address the issues around wrongful conviction, and how it affects the lives of the young people who love them.
