Elise Parsley studied drawing and creative writing at Minnesota State University Moorhead. Her work has been featured in the Hotel Donaldson in Fargo, ND, at the Livingston Lord Library in Moorhead, MN, and in the SCBWI Bulletin.
During college, Elise volunteered over 1800 hours promoting literacy through an Americorps academic enrichment program. Now she promotes literacy through writing and illustrating children’s books. Elise and her family live in Beresford, South Dakota.

PICTURE BOOK, DUMMY BOOK, HOW TO HOOK (AN AGENT)! is a SCBWI workshop aimed at aspiring picture book authors and author-illustrators. Elise Parsley will discuss the characteristics of a picture book, the usefulness of dummy books (for illustrators and non-illustrators), and the basics of a PB query letter. Bring a copy of your picture book manuscript, a pen, and some scissors, and be prepared to make some edits!

Her debut picture book, IF YOU EVER WANT TO BRING AN ALLIGATOR TO SCHOOL, DON'T! is slotted to hit shelves in July of 2015.
