PICTURE BOOK, DUMMY BOOK, HOW TO HOOK (AN AGENT)! is a SCBWI workshop aimed at aspiring picture book authors and author-illustrators. Elise Parsley will discuss the characteristics of a picture book, the usefulness of dummy books (for illustrators and non-illustrators), and the basics of a PB query letter. Bring a copy of your picture book manuscript, a pen, and some scissors, and be prepared to make some edits!

Elise Parsley studied drawing and creative writing at Minnesota State University in Moorhead. She has been researching, writing, and illustrating picture books and dummies since ever since. Her debut picture book, IF YOU EVER WANT TO BRING AN ALLIGATOR TO SCHOOL, DON'T! is slotted to hit shelves in July of 2015. Elise has received invaluable feedback from editors and agents on her way to publication and wants to tell you all about it.
