Most days, I'm busy with heart research and echocardiography (my day job!). Whenever possible, I like to spend time underwater diving in the pristine waters that surround my homeland, New Zealand. I write every day: scientific papers; picture books for children; non-fiction books about the sea; travel guides; inspiration gift books for all. Writing is one of my hobbies - other include spinning and weaving, knitting and crochet; walking; travelling; snorkelling and diving and of course reading. I have three degrees, two kids, one husband and no pets - we're too busy to look after animals!
I use colourful powerpoint presentations and audience participation to introduce a wide range of topics such as the value of reading, how to start and continue to write, exploring the natural world and history. I am a naturally exuberant person and have honed my public speaking skills over a 25 year career in tertiary education.
