Kelly Canby is an internationally published illustrator and author of over two dozen books for children. Kelly was born in London, England, but has lived in Australia since the age of three, which is probably around the same age she started playing with pencils and crayons, and it was probably only a few years after that that she decided playing with pencils and crayons was something she wanted to do for the rest of her life.

With a Bachelor of Art in Design from Curtin University, Kelly applies her quirky style to the pages of everything from picture books, to chapter books, to early reader books, to colouring books and beyond! Kelly’s books are published widely throughout the US, UK and Australia.

Kelly is on the judging panel for the annual Shaun Tan Illustration Awards and is the SCBWI Australia West, Regional Advisor

Presentation Description:

Workshops / Presentations

Comfortable with both large and small groups, Kelly’s presentations are lively, fun and interactive. Presentations to younger groups usually involve a reading of one of Kelly's picture books followed by some talking, some questions and a whole lot of drawing! Older groups will be taken through the range and diversity of books, the varying styles and the processes involved in the books Kelly has publishedfollowed by some talking, some questions and a whole lot of drawing!
Kelly can get as messy as you like with group charcoal drawings where everyone is involved or she can keep it clean with up-the-front drawing demonstrations and audience participation activities.

Preferred audience

K - 12 All presentations are adjusted to suit the year level.
