Lindsay Lackey’s bestselling debut novel, All the Impossible Things, was named a Best Book of 2019 by the New York Public Library, the Denver Public Library, and A Mighty Girl’s website, among others. Before she became an author, Lindsay trained as an opera singer, worked in children’s and teen services at the public library, and for a major publishing house in publicity and marketing. Born and raised in Colorado, she now lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and their spoiled dogs. She absolutely believes in impossible things.

This is a list and description of Lindsay's virtual visit options. For pricing, please visit

Impossible Dreams and Big Things

In this 45-60 minute virtual program intended for larger audiences (multiple classes or school assemblies), Lindsay introduces kids to her novel, All the Impossible Things, and shares facts from science and history that seem impossible but are true! This interactive session not only presents kids with amazing information but also introduces them to real kids whose big dreams changed the world.

Book Club Author Visit

If your students have read All the Impossible Things, you can book a virtual book club visit with Lindsay! This 30-minute Q&A session will give readers a peek inside Lindsay's writing process, the real events that inspired All the Impossible Things, and more!

Author Life Tour

If your students would love a sneak peek behind the scenes of an author's real life, then this 30-minute session is for you! This is an abbreviated version of the Meet the Author Program, and does not feature as much writing process information as that program. Here, Lindsay will show students her writing space, play a round of Bookshelf Bingo, and might even offer a glimpse at her work-in-progress. Students will see how writers surround themselves with inspiration, organize (or don't) their creative space, and create stories in the midst of real life! Session includes a brief Q&A.

Writing Workshop: Writing Buddies

This 45-60 minute virtual writing workshop is designed to help young writers ages 12 and up to become a strong writing partner (also called critique partner) for other writers. Students will learn simple rules of etiquette in offering writing critiques to their peers, and will practice the art of giving and receiving constructive criticism. By the end of this workshop, young writers will come to understand just how valuable a good critique partner can be to improving your writing!

Writing Workshop: Inside Ideas

A 30-45 minute virtual writing workshop for smaller groups and single classes that provides students an opportunity to explore their own memories and experiences to find ideas for stories and scenes. Lindsay will share some of the personal memories that helped shape All the Impossible Things and will guide students through exercises that use their own experiences as idea-fuel.

Meet the Author

Get to know author Lindsay Lackey in this 45-60 minute virtual program. Lindsay will share her journey from "publishing" her first book in the first grade, all the way through the publication of her debut novel, All the Impossible Things. Kids will get to see examples of Lindsay's writing through drafting, multiple revisions, and copyedits, in all of its messy glory! This program will show students just how much work it takes to write and revise, revise, revise, but also how rewarding the process can be.
