Peggy Archer writes fiction, non-fiction, and poetry for children. A HIPPY-HOPPY TOAD (Schwartz & Wade 2018) won the 2019 Crystal Kite Award, Mid South region. It was a finalist for the Indiana Literacy Firefly award, and is Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Selection.
Peggy enjoys speaking to children and adults about her books and writing.
Besides writing for children, Peggy has worked as a pediatric nurse and as a school nurse. She and her husband have six children and twelve grandchildren. She has been an active member of SCBWI in Indiana and Missouri. A native Hoosier from Indiana, she recently lived in O'Fallon, Missouri for nine years. She now lives with her husband in Valparaiso, Indiana.
When she is not writing for children, Peggy enjoys speaking to young people and adults about books and writing.
Her presentations for students focus on writing fiction or poetry, how a book grows from an idea to finished book, or the life of an author, from reader to writer.
Her presentations for adults focus on writing picture books, how to 'show' and not 'tell,' writing poetry for children, or the journey from reader to writer.
