Rachel Kolar is the author of Mother Ghost: Nursery Rhymes for Little Monsters, as well as several science fiction, fantasy, and horror short stories for adults. A graduate of Kenyon College, Rachel lives with her husband and children in the Baltimore/Washington area. When she isn't writing, she enjoys hiking, playing overly complicated board games, and getting far too excited about Halloween.
My presentations are geared toward the nuts and bolts of how a book goes from an idea to a published story. I can tailor it either as a Career Day-style presentation, which includes insights into an author's typical day and the pros and cons of being a writer, or a presentation with a brainstorming and workshop element for children who are interested in becoming writers themselves.
I also enjoy doing readings for elementary-age children. My reading presentations include a Halloween craft and can involve a workshop element as well.
I live in the Baltimore/Washington area and am happy to do out-of-state visits via Skype.
