I have spent half my life in New Zealand and half in Australia. I love the hot, red, dusty Australian outback and the cool, drippy, muddy wetness of the New Zealand bush. Kookaburras make me laugh and Tuis make me sigh and my two favourite foods are prawns and freshly smoked trout.

I have been writing for 20 years and I have had nearly 30 books published, many of which have had overseas editions. THE MERMAID'S TAIL was the top selling Aussie Nibble of all time while TAI'S PENGUIN was shortlisted for the WA Premier's Award. Two of my junior fiction novels received Reader's Choice awards and more recently HELLO FROM NOWHERE was named a Children's Book Council Notable Book. AUNTIE ELLIE'S BEACH HOUSE was named by Listener Magazine among the top 15 picture books published in 2015, taken from books published worldwide.

Presentation Description:

My writer's talks and workshops are more fun than recess and phys ed and my PDs are more fun than lunch, (with cake!)

I've discovered I have another secret superpower besides writing! I can
teach kids how to write and I can teach teachers how to teach kids to write!
With 20 years experience writing and teaching I possess a unique combination of experiences, insights and skills, (not to mention boundless enthusiasm,) which I've used to carefully craft a series of writer's talks and workshops, (for children,) and professional development sessions, (for teachers,) that are like no other.

I conduct 3 x one hour writer's talks per day or 2 x one and a half hour workshops. There is a workshop element to all my writer's talks.
PDs are two or three hours duration and these hugely successful and very popular sessions are all about BRINGING BACK THE FUN!
