Susan Katz Announces Retirement from HarperCollins

President and publisher of HarperCollins Children’s Books, Susan Katz, announced her retirement set for this summer after 28 years with the company. Suzanne Murphy, v-p, publisher of Disney Book Group/Disney Publishing Worldwide, will take over the position starting May 20. Katz was named president and publisher of the children's division in 1996 and has made an enormous contribution to the company over the years. During her career, the division has earned numerous awards including a combined 65 Newbery, Caldecott, Printz, and Coretta Scott King Awards and Honors, reports Publishers Weekly. Katz worked with numerous best-stelling authors and illustrators such as Neil Gaiman, Kevin Henkes, Walter Dean Myers, Shel Silverstein, and Maurice Sendak. She helped to launch franchises such as Divergent, I Am Number Four, The Selection, Vampire Diaries, and Pretty Little Liars. Read the full story here.
