From large global conferences to small, intimate retreats, events are a key benefit of SCBWI membership. Award-winning authors, esteemed illustrators, editors, agents, and publishers present lectures, conduct workshops, and give individual manuscript and art consultations at SCBWI events. These gatherings are excellent networking opportunities for those both already established in and new to the fantastic, demanding world of children’s book writing, illustrating, and translating.
Held every year in late July/early August. The Summer Conference is held virtually so members from all over the world can participate without leaving home! This event features breakout sessions with tracks for illustrators, picture book writers, nonfiction writers, self-published writers and traditionally published authors plus keynote addresses from kidlit icons and industry panels. There is also an online Portfolio Showcase and the opportunity to pitch your book to acquiring agents and editors.
