BIPOC Scholarship

All expense paid trip to the Winter or Summer Conference for Black, Indigenous, and People of color.

Award info

Two scholarship grand prize winners will receive tuition to the SCBWI In-person Winter Conference in New York City.

Submission portal can be found in your Member Profile under the AWARDS tab.

Winners announced December 15. Congratulations to Nadine Pinede and Dorinda Nicholson!


Submission guidelines

Please include the following information in one PDF:


1) A one-paragraph artist statement and description of current project

2) One page writing sample OR two illustrations


Label PDF with the following naming convention: "First Name__Last Name__BIPOC Scholarship"

Items 1 and 2 can be on the same page. Most PDF submissions should be 3 pages total.

Non-members may apply.


How to Submit

1. Click on your MEMBER HOME

2. Click on the AWARDS Icon

3. Scroll down to the BIPOC Scholarship box and click 'submit'
