Lupe Ruiz-Flores
During the Great Depression, Ernestine Guerrero, a teenage Mexican-American creates a work of art (clock case) out of 156 pattern pieces carved out of discarded food-relief boxes for President Roosevelt to show her family's appreciation for the food they've been getting. The clock case is still on display at the FDR Museum in Hyde, New York.
