Robert Lee Murphy
The driving of the Golden Spike at Promontory Summit in 1869 almost didn’t happen. Only five people, including, Will Braddock, were aware of the incident. It started when Paddy O’Hannigan attacked Will four months earlier. Will chases after Paddy, but winds up in a mess. Jenny McNabb helps Will recover. Paddy then kidnaps Jenny. Will coerces Mort Kavanagh, Paddy’s godfather, into providing the ransom. Paddy unwittingly brags he is rich, and Kavanagh reclaims the funds. Paddy is broke again. Jenny works for Central Pacific president, Leland Stanford, who brings the Golden Spike to the ceremony marking completion of the first transcontinental railroad. Paddy steals the Golden Spike from Stanford’s train. Will must regain the spike, or Jenny, Homer, and he will be considered the thieves.
