Susan Burdorf
Helen has lived as a foster child all her life, never knowing who her parents were. Now a Sophomore in High School her history class is assigned a task to research their ancestry and find one interesting fact about someone in their history and report on it to the class. Helen, even though she has no idea what she may find out about her past and why she was abandoned 16 years ago as an infant, decides to discover her past. Along the way, with help from unexpected sources, and in spite of a bully who constantly tells her she is nothing but an ugly duckling, Helen finds out that who you are is more important than who you were when she finds herself in the heart of another.
