How to Use SCBWI BookStop

SCBWI BookStop is the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators’ annual online book promotion designed to help members showcase and sell their books directly to readers, parents, educators, and librarians. This powerful marketing opportunity increases visibility for both traditionally published and self-published children’s books, giving them exposure to a wide audience of book buyers.

All Premium Members—including PAL, Full, Associate, Student, and Developing Nations members—are eligible to participate. (Preview users are not eligible.)

To be eligible for SCBWI BookStop, books must be published, or will be published, from January 1, 2022, through December 31, 2025. The cost for a BookStop page is USD $25.

Q: Who is eligible to participate in BookStop?

This is a members-only promotion. SCBWI Premium members – PAL, Full, Associate, Student, and Developing Nation – can all create pages and participate in BookStop. Preview users are not eligible. Members must log in to the SCBWI website first. You can find the BookStop link under the 'My Work' link on your Member Home page.

Q: When is the BookStop promotion period?

SCBWI BookStop is open to the public to purchase books starting Wednesday, October 22, through Friday, December 12.

Q: When can I create a BookStop for my book?

Starting September 10, you can purchase and create a page for your book. Log in to the website, click on the Member Home button, and then click on the BookStop banner to start making your page. You can purchase a page anytime from September 10 through December 8.

Q: Can non-members make BookStop pages?

No. BookStop is an SCBWI members-only promotion. 

Q: Is there a cost to participate in BookStop?

Yes. A BookStop page costs USD $25. If you have more than one book you’d like to enter in BookStop, you must buy a separate page for each one. Each additional page costs USD $25.

Q: What books are eligible to be part of the promotion?

Traditionally published, self-published/author-published, and children’s book apps that have been published, or will be published, between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2025. 

Q: What type of marketing support will SCBWI provide?

We recommend purchasing your BookStop before the start date of October 22 to benefit from the start of SCBWI's promotional support, which includes social media posts across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube, as well as paid media on Instagram and Facebook.

Q: How can I support my book during BookStop?

SCBWI will make BookStop badges available to members who create pages, and to members who wish to show their support for the promotion. Use these to promote your book or BookStop to your friends, families, neighbors – anyone who is interested in buying, reading, and gifting children’s and young adult books.

Q: What do I do if I have a technical question while creating my page?

Click on the green “Help” button in the lower right-hand side of each website page at scbwi.org.

Q: Is there a user analytic that will tell me more about BookStop?

Yes, users can track purchase clicks by visitors to BookStop.
