We are excited to offer several opportunities to our PAL (Published and Listed) members who attend the conference. Please refer to the SCBWI PAL page HERE for more information about who qualifies for Published and Listed (PAL) membership, as well as directions for how to add the PAL designation to your SCBWI Member Home.
Displayed throughout the conference
SCBWI Midsouth PAL members who are attending the Midsouth conference may submit good news to be digitally displayed on the large projector screen in our main meeting room throughout the conference. Pictures may be published books (written or illustrated for children), illustrations, or promotional material. Instructions on submitting materials for display will be sent to each PAL via email closer to the conference date.
4:30–6:00 p.m. Saturday
Qualified attendees will select this option when registering for the conference. These slots fill quickly, so register early if you’d like to be a part of the Cocktail and Autograph Party signing.
Sign copies of your PAL-approved books and meet and greet other Midsouth conference attendees. Preference will be given to authors who have published a new title since the last SCBWI Midsouth conference (September 2022). A waiting list of authors without new titles will be compiled, and we will fill remaining signing spots on a first-come basis after June 1. Participation in this event is limited to the first 12 author or illustrator PAL-level SCBWI members (from the Midsouth region) who complete online registration and pay registration fees. Up to five titles with valid ISBN numbers must be submitted by August 1st. Titles for signing must be published as children’s or young adult literature, be returnable, have no minimum order requirements, and be readily available from Ingram according to Parnassus Books’ sales terms. Exceptions may be made if the book is already stocked by Parnassus Books. (Authors and illustrators should determine the publication date and availability of their titles before deciding to participate.)
Once your place in the Autograph party has been confirmed, send an email with contact info (please indicate whether you are an author, illustrator, or both) along with titles, ISBN numbers, and any questions to Erica Rodgers at [email protected]. Titles from the autograph party will also be made available for purchase in the conference bookstore throughout the weekend, as supplies last.
Sunday, 1:00–3:00 p.m.
Join us for a PAL (published and listed) meeting to discuss marketing strategies, school visits, contract questions, AI challenges, the state of publishing…wherever our discussion takes us. We’ll have a loose agenda, but are mainly hoping to build and support our amazingly talented PAL authors! Please plan on joining us and sharing your best practices and strategies!
