8:00 pm Social: Get to know you 4 corners BYOB

We will be meeting up at the group meeting room. Bring your own beverage if you want to drink. We will all play four corners to get to learn a little about the people we will be spending the weekend with!

Saturday Aug 29th

10:50 am Lift Off

This is our monthly writing and illustrating sprints titled “Lift Off”

Five prompts will be displayed. Choose one (or all!) of the five prompts. The fun prompts are geared to help you begin a new story or illustration for your collection. 

• Your goal is to write 250 words or less or draw your illustration within 30 minutes.
• When finished, there will be time for participants to read their stories and reveal their illustrations. Be brave! (But, sharing is optional!)
• Consider  EMOTION, MYSTERY, COLOR
• Think of your story as one scene from a larger work – jump into the middle of the action!  

11:30 am Lift Off OPEN MIC                      

This is where you can come up to the mic and share the micro story you just wrote, or the illustration you magically whipped out in 30 minutes.

1:30 pm Optional critiques group session & Portfolio Q&A

If you enjoy meeting with others to review your work, we have one more session on Sunday. (You can always arrange to meet more often).

Illustrators: Bring your portfolio and show it off, peek at others and get some feedback. 

Portfolios, the biggest part of an illustrator's outreach. It is the first thing folks look at and it is an overwhelming task that is also evolving!  Need someone to just take a look at where you are to see if you're on the right track? Have no clue where to start and want to just look at inspiration? Join us! This will be a time to talk with other illustrators, learn from peers, and get peer feedback (not critique). We can also discuss the concept of “postcards”.  Feel free to bring those too!
