How To Hook An Agent: Fishing For The Perfect Match. The querying process can be stressful with an ocean of possibilities. How to Hook an Agent shares tips and tools to help writers stay afloat during the querying storm. From crafting a dynamic query to exploring what it's like to read submissions and how I manage my query box, discover how to catch the best agent for you—and if you should throw them back!
We will send a Constant Contact email with the Zoom access link to attendees on the Thursday before the event. The Zoom access link will also be displayed on each member's homepage under "My Events." On the Tuesday after the event, we will send a Constant Contact email with the recording link and any applicable submission guidelines.
Paige Terlip, Agent and Co-Founder, Starling Literary + Media
Paige is a co-founder of Starling Literary + Media, and serves on the board of the Association of American Literary Agents, as well as co-chairs the Communications Committee. She began her agenting career with the Andrea Brown Literary Agency in 2017 before starting Starling at the end of 2025. She is proud to represent award-winning and bestselling authors, as well as debuts. She comes to agenting with a background in marketing, design, and freelance editorial. She is also the founder of COwrite, which offers writing classes and workshops for writers of all levels, and has an MA in Children's Literature and an MFA in Writing for Children from Simmons University. If she’s not reading, you'll find her hiking with her Husky-Shepherd mix.
