In our Meet the Editors workshop, Kade Dishmon, Assistant Editor at Holiday House, Madison Pelletier, Editorial Director at Entangled Publishing, and Danielle Collins, Associate Editor at Beach Lane Books, will share the history and mission of their publishing houses, as well as what they are currently acquiring. They will answer questions about the publishing process, securing a book contract, writing a strong proposal, navigating submissions to publishers, and the current state of the publishing industry. Attendees will receive submission guidelines and can view the recording for a period of thirty days.
Kade Dishmon (they/he) is an assistant editor at Peachtree Publishing acquiring YA and MG novels. Before joining Peachtree, Kade most recently acquired for Holiday House Publishing. A sucker for messy, complex protagonists; gorgeously lyrical line-level writing; and incisive themes, Kade is open to novels across genres excluding SFF not set in our world. You can find him on Bluesky @kadedishmon.
Madison is the Editorial Director of Mischief and Mayhem, two upcoming Young Adult imprints by Entangled Publishing. Though M&M don’t launch until 2026, Madison has been editing for over a decade––she was Entangled’s very first intern! Before taking up publishing full-time, she spent her years in academia, receiving a bachelor’s in Legal Psychology from NYU Shanghai, a Master’s in International Conflict from Vrije University Amsterdam, and an MPhil in Criminological Research from Cambridge University, studying alternative sentencing programs, cultural neuroscience, and the cognitive impact of imprisonment and rehabilitation. She has worked with bestselling authors Jess Lourey, Rebecca Yarros, and Elise Kova; her first major editing success was RITA Award-winning novel Forget Tomorrow by Pintip Dunn.
Danielle Collins joined Beach Lane Books in the fall of 2020. Danielle works on fiction and nonfiction picture books and has the pleasure of working with creators including Sharon Fujimoto-Johnson, Keenan Jones, Kabir and Surishtha Sehgal, Hope Lim, Shahrzad Maydani, Rekha S. Rajan, and Ken Daley, among other talented authors and illustrators. She is passionate about stories that inspire curiosity, empathy, and joy in young readers. She’s looking for books that tackle big feelings with a light & lyrical touch, and is especially interested in those that explore themes of identity, self-discovery, and self-expression, as well as nonfiction about lesser-known people, periods, and fascinating STEM topics. Above all, Danielle loves books with captivating writing, memorable characters, and a whole lot of heart. Danielle grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, went to college in Los Angeles, and now lives in Brooklyn, where she can often be found at bookstores and bakeries.
