REGISTRATION IS FULL! The Author Mentorship is open to Unpublished SCBWI Premium Members to work directly with Nick Thomas, Executive Editor with Levine Querido. Registration opens on Sunday, September 29 at 7 p.m. (PT) for SCBWI Premium Members Living in San Diego County Only. If mentorship spots are still available, Non-San Diego SCBWI Premium members may register on October 1. (If you are not a San Diego County resident and you register before October 1, you will be removed from the mentorship program.)

Nick Thomas, Executive Editor with Levine Querido

Nick Thomas is Executive Editor at Levine Querido. Previously, he was Senior Editor at Arthur A. Levine Books, where he started as an Editorial Assistant. He has also held positions with Bloomsbury, Chicken House, and David Fickling Books before returning to his AALB roots. He edits middle grade and young adult books, and looks for stories that change something about you by the time you’re finished.

The Author Mentorship is open to SCBWI Members and will run from November, 2024 through March, 2025.  

Round 1 will consist of initial submissions, written critique notes from Nick - (on both the submission and SCBWI Gold Critique form) - and 15-minute Zoom critiques. 

Round 2 will wrap up with the revised submissions, written critique notes and final 15-minute Zoom critiques. There will also be a 1 hour Zoom Meet-and-Greet scheduled where Nick will answer questions from the mentees. 

Nick will be accepting submissions for the following categories: 

PB, Chapter Books, Middle Grade, Young Adult, Non-Fiction, Biography, Sci-Fi, Mystery, Fantasy, Novels- in-Verse

Registration opens on Sunday, September 29 at 7 p.m. (PT) for SCBWI Members Living in San Diego County Only. If mentorship spots are still available, Non-San Diego SCBWI members may register on October 1. (If you are not a San Diego County resident and you register before October 1, you will be removed from the mentorship program and will have to register again on October 1st.)

Mentorship Fees:  

SCBWI Members without a Season Ticket - $190

SCBWI Members with a Season Ticket - $170**

Important Information:

**2024 2025 Season Ticket Holders: You will receive an email with a coupon code for $20 off before Mentorship registration opens.


When you register you will pick the day and time-slot for both your 15 minute critiques. Example: If you choose the Tuesday at 4:00 PM (PT) for the first critique in January you will also get the Tuesday at 4:00 PM (PT) for your second critique in March.
