September 24th OR 25th to September 27th –– Pack your bags and join us for a weekend of undisturbed creative time in Fulda! Attendees will spent 2.5 or 1.5 days at the venue with the opportunity to work on their personal projects in a focused environment, away from the regular day–to–day chores and distractions. Some of us will meet Thursday near Fulda Train station for a get-together before making our way to the venue. All Friday is for work until the rest of the group joins us in the (late) afternoon and potentially dinner. All Saturday and Sunday morning is dedicated to focused work. Potential add-on activities include: scrawl and scribble crawl (Thursday), manuscript and portfolio feedback rounds (Saturday). This retreat is open to all SCBWI Members, writers, illustrators and translators alike.
First step: pre-register now for free* and claim your spot at the retreat

2) Check out the options. We are offering two different options for this event: a 2.5 and a 1.5 days stay in Fulda. Prices vary depending on the length of stay and the room choice.
3) Click on 'register for event,' chose your option, then click 'book a seat' to finish your free pre-registration
Second step: pay directly at the event/venue
4) You will receive a confirmation email with a summary of your choices and the estimated costs depending on your choices. Please add [email protected] to your safe contacts and allow up to 24h for the follow-up email to arrive. We will ask for a few more details to finish your registration.
5) Make your way to Fulda and pay directly at the venue.

Retreat Location
The Retreat will take place in Fulda at Gasthof Altes Casino. We've held a retreat at this location before and had a very good experience here. The location will provide the room (single and double room for room share) as well as all the catering during the retreat days in our assigned study room.
How to get to Fulda
Fulda is located pretty much in the middle of Germany and easy to reach by public transport as well as by car (Autobahn 7). Fulda is a larger Deutsche Bahn hub with good connections into the rest of the country.
Focused Working
At the venue, we'll have access to a room just for our group where each of our attendees will have their own desk to work on their projects. We meet up thereafter breakfast, work until we break for lunch in the hotel's restaurant, before returning there for the afternoon session. The room capacity determines the max number of attendees that we're able to accommodate for this event (15).
Booking Option 1 – €457 (single room) OR €382 (room share)
3 nights, 2.5 days conference room with full catering –– arrive on Thursday and meet your fellow creatives in a cafè near the train station for a first get-together, meet new folks or reconnect with old acquaintances. After everyone has arrived, we'll make our way to the hotel together (probably sharing taxi(s)) and check in. Friday morning after breakfast, we'll start working in our designated conference room. Same goes for Saturday. Sunday, we'll have the room until noon for work - after that, we'll head home. Prices: The conference flat fee includes the conference room, wifi, morning and afternoon snacks, unlimited soft and hot drinks, lunch and dinner (choice between 3 difference meals + dessert + 0.4l drink each) = €202 (€80 per full day, €42 half-day); single room (€85 per night), OR room share in double bed room (€60 per night) Totals: Single room: €255 + €202 = €457 OR room share €180 + €202 = €382
Booking Option 2 – €292 (single room) OR €242 (double room)
2 nights, 1.5 days conference room with full catering –– make your way to the venue by Friday night. Join us for dinner and/or welcome drinks at the bar (optional). Saturday morning after breakfast, we'll start working in our designated room. Sunday, we'll have the room until noon for work, then everyone heads home. Prices: The conference flat fee includes the conference room, wifi, morning and afternoon snacks, unlimited soft and hot drinks, lunch and dinner (choice between 3 difference meals + dessert + 0.4l drink each) = €122 (€80 full day, €42 half day); single room (€85 per night), OR room share in double bed room (€60 per night) Totals: Single room: €170 + €122 = €292 OR room share €120 + €122 = €242
Possible Add–Ons
In addition to the pricing detailed in the two main booking options, we want to offer the following add–ons: (1) join Friday night's dinner (if you chose option 2 and arrive on Friday afternoon) AND/OR (2) add Lunch on Sunday before you head back home. Please inquire about the costs of these options after we sent you your individual confirmation emails. Additionally, you may sign up for the Thursday Scrawl and Scribble Crawl and/or the Saturday night feedback round.

Cancellation policy: After you pre-registered here on the website, I'll send you a follow up email requesting more details for the venue. Once you provided those details, you are entering into a booking with the venue/hotel and are subject to their cancellation policy. You may cancel without fees until August 26th 2026. From that date forward, the hotel might charge a cancellation fee.
