Avery Fischer Udagawa on Translating Sachiko Kashiwaba: To Read One Author Closely

For translators working on multiple titles written by a single author, it is an exciting prospect, rich with opportunity to find common threads in the works themselves and develop a deeper understanding of the author.

Longtime SCBWI Japan member and SCBWI Global Translator Coordinator Avery Fischer Udagawa will talk about her relationship with author Sachiko Kashiwaba and her works in this translation-focused event.

To date, Avery has brought three of Kashiwaba’s works to Anglophone readers:

The Batchelder Award-winning Temple Alley Summer; the Batchelder Honor book The House of the Lost on the Cape; and—just this month—The Village Beyond the Mist .
