Join us on June 21st, from 9 AM to 1:30 PM CST designed specifically for children's book authors and illustrators! Whether you're just starting or looking to elevate your school visit game, this hands-on bootcamp will leave you with the skills, strategies, and confidence to shine.
What You’ll Learn
Ready to visit schools and share your book with young readers? Shannon will share her secrets about keeping kids engaged, how to book visits, and of course, ideas for what you can talk about during your presentation. As a 25-year elementary teacher, Shannon knows what expectations schools have for convocations. As an author who has presented over 300 visits, she has lots of do's and don'ts to share too!
Using her experience of coordinating hundreds of school visits in rural Maine, Alison will share tips on communication, engagement, and navigating expectations. From how to develop workshop content to gathering feedback this is a jam packed informational session. Bring your questions!
Wanting to book events but have no idea where to start? That’s where a booking agent comes in. They take the guesswork out of school visits, library events, and more—handling the logistics like scheduling, contracts, and travel so you don’t have to. And if your agent is a former teacher, even better—they know firsthand how schools operate and know how to create visits that are fun, engaging, and easy for educators to work into their day. With the right support, you can stop stressing about the details and focus on what you do best: sharing your stories and inspiring young readers.
