BUILDING A CHARACTER ONE GAME AT A TIME - Building a character is a vital part of writing a novel. It also requires quite a bit of work to incorporate enough texture, detail, and personality for the character to seem real to the reader. But this process doesn’t have to be a chore. Join us as award-winning author Mylisa Larsen introduces writing games that will help you create characters that are round and real. Bring a character from a work-in-progress or start a new project with a character you’ll create in this workshop. Offered by SCBWI Nebraska as part of their Creative Connections series. Thursday, November 13, from 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm (CST) at Ralston's Baright Public Library 5555 S 77th Street.
Mylisa Larsen is the author of the novels, "Playing Through The Turnaround" and "Quagmire Tiarello Couldn’t Be Better" (a Nebraska Book Award winner), and the picture books "All Of Those Babies," "If I Were A Kangaroo," "How To Put Your Parents to Bed," and "Ho Ho Homework." She’s interested in how our brains create stories and ways to make that process work better. She’s a sucker for a good metaphor, a line that makes her laugh in recognition, and characters that seem real enough that she’s somehow sure they exist off the page.
She has lived in nine states and two countries and has loved things about all of them. The first place she always finds is the library. You can visit her online at http://mylisalarsen.com
