Digging Deeper: Landing Work-for-hire Contracts

Would you like to develop a new stream of income? Would you like to learn about work-for-hire projects and how to secure them? Writing for the educational market can not only increase your revenue but also help develop your writing skills while cultivating relationships in the publishing industry. In this workshop, you’ll be given a realistic overview of the educational market, how to approach these publishers, as well as the best strategies to secure contracts.

About the Presenter

Lydia Lukidis is an award-winning author of 60+ trade and educational books for children. Her titles include UP, UP HIGH: THE SECRET POETRY OF EARTH'S ATMOSPHERE (Capstone, 2025), DANCING THROUGH SPACE: DR. MAE JEMISON SOARS TO NEW HEIGHTS (Albert Whitman, 2024) which received a star review from SLJ, and DEEP, DEEP, DOWN: THE SECRET UNDERWATER POETRY OF THE MARIANA TRENCH (Capstone, 2023) which was a Crystal Kite winner for the Canada and North America division, Forest of Reading Silver Birch Express Honor, a Cybils Award nominee, and winner of the Dogwood Readers Award. A science enthusiast from a young age, She now incorporates her studies in science and her everlasting curiosity into her books. Lydia is well versed in the realm of educational publishing. Her experience spans over a decade, starting with eBooks she wrote for Smart Kidz Club, to over 50 books and graphic novels she has written for various education publishers. RECORDING

The workshop will be recorded, and the recording will be available for one month following the event. Attendees will receive a link and a password by email the week following the event.
