Eric Carle Exhibition: Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo - MOT

Join us for a visit to the Eric Carle Exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo – MOT.

This exhibition, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Japanese publication of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, features approximately 180 works centering on precious original illustrations from the collection of The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art and The Eric and Barbara Carle Foundation. Carle’s colorful original illustrations for the picture books and the handmade “book dummy” created during the conceptual stage, offer a glimpse into how the world of his long-loved picture books took shape. Furthermore, his early works reveal Carle’s origins as a graphic designer, which would later evolve into his innovative interactive picture books.

Lunch:

Depending on the size of our group, the weather and other unknowns, we can either have lunch at the museum – there is a very nice café and family restaurant at the museum here , or we can go to the nearby Kiba Park,  grab a bite to eat and enjoy the outdoors.

That decision will be made closer to the day of the event.

What to bring:

You may want to bring art and/ or writing supplies with you, to jot down some ideas or important pieces of information, or make a quick sketch.

Please check the weather to see if you’ll need sun protection and/ or umbrellas! Bring a water bottle.
