Free Monthly Critiques Meet other kidlit writers and illustrators from our region and get feedback on your work at our free peer critique meetings.

Use the Google Form below to register. You can also register as a "Bleacher Creature or Lurker" if you are new to critiquing and would like to observe!

Members and non-members are welcome. Please upload a new ms, pages or a revision by Midnight of the deadline.

Remember you are welcome to come as an observer or "bleacher-creature" if you have never been to critique before and you'd like to see how it works before you submit yourself. Register through the Google form and choose the “lurker/bleacher-creature” option.


You will receive an email the day after the submission deadline with a link to the color-coded Google Sheet. This sheet will have the groups assigned by color and room number. You will read the submissions in your group before the meeting.

Eastern NY Region-wide Zoom Critique Instructions:


  1. Add a logline to the top of your submission! For YA and MG submissions, if it is not your first chapter, add a very short summary to bring us up to speed in your story. (Very short summary means a paragraph or two.) 
  2. Upload your submission as a Word.docx by Midnight, of the deadline date. I will send out the groups the following day. 
  3. Read the submissions in your group before the meeting. You’ll get an email indicating your color/group.
  4. Leave comments on each Google Doc
  5. Come prepared to discuss each submission
