Join author-illustrator Michelle Jing Chan for a webinar on the graphic novel creation process! Michelle is the author-illustrator of two young adult graphic novels, the upcoming queer coming-of-age SOMEWHERE IN THE GRAY (which sold at auction) and the sapphic horror-romance SHE COMES OUT AT NIGHT. She will be walking through the components of a compelling pitch, the process from script to final pages, and tips on managing project timelines.
Michelle Jing Chan is a queer Chinese American author-illustrator who studied engineering and economics, but now spends her days creating stories. Inspired by cultural folklore, all things spooky, and queer joy, Michelle gravitates towards stories that celebrate diversity and self-acceptance. Her books have earned awards from the Children’s Book Council, the Chinese American Librarians Association, the American Library Association, King County Libraries, and Hindi’s Libraries. When she’s not hunched over her desk, you can find Michelle playing with her cuddly cat, browsing local thrift shops, or hunting for ghosts in video games.
