Join Adam Blackman, acquisitions editor at Cardinal Rule Press, for a presentation on the acquisitions process at an independent press. Adam will share a 50 minute presentation with 10 minutes for questions. A limited number of critique add-ons are available with one-on-one zooms. Submission opportunity afterwards at Cardinal Rule Press for attendees. Webinar is $20 for SCBWI members, $40 for non-members. Add-on written critique and one-on-one zoom is available as an add-on for $85.
Biography - Adam Blackman
As Acquisitions Editor at Cardinal Rule Press, Adam Blackman has built a diverse list of award-winning, realistic, representative picture books for socially thoughtful children.
As Consulting Editor at The Little Press, he has developed middle grade manuscripts for a growing list.
As a Freelance Editor, Adam offers manuscript critiques and developmental editing for books for younger readers, specializing in picture books, chapter books, and middle grade.

Add-On Zoom Critiques: For attendees who have purchased a critique and one-on-one zoom, zooms will be scheduled immediately after the initial presentation and Q and A.

A written critique and one-on-one zoom is available for $85.00
Manuscripts must be received by November 1, 2025.
Manuscript submitted for critique must be under 800 words for fiction and 1,000 words for nonfiction.
All one-on-one zoom critiques will be held on November 15, 2025 between 10:15am and 1:15pm PST after the initial presentation from Adam Blackman.
