Join us for a visit to the Creative Museum Tokyo to see the Yoshitake Shinsuke Exhibition
Looking for some inspiration? Want to figure out how to turn the seeds of your ideas into fabulous picture books? Or maybe you just love a great exhibition! Well then you're in luck.
Japanese illustrator Yoshitake Shinsuke's extraordinary work is currently being exhibited at the Creative Museum Tokyo. Yoshitake is well known for his humor and observation of every-day things. This exhibition reveals his process, from brainstorming sketches through to the completed picture book. There are over 400 items in the exhibition, including Yoshitake’s favorite collection and the source of his inspiration.
In addition, there are some large-scale hands-on exhibits, such as “annoying adults” that you can throw apples at, and fluffy paths and spiky chairs to experience Yoshitake's world of picture books.
The Creative Museum is on the 6th floor of the new Toda Building close by Toyko Station.
If you'd like to visit the exhibition with some like minded creatives, register for the event and meet us at the museum entrance, 1:15pm, Saturday 19th April.
Bring something to record your sketches and scribbles as we wander through the exhibition. Attendees are free to go at their own pace. We'll gather together at a pre-arranged time to have a little afternoon 'tea & cake' and share our notes and impressions.
We'll send out further information to those who register.
You can find out lots more about Yoshitake Shinsuke from his website, and check out this write up of one of our events last year with translator Lisa Wilcut who translated one of Yoshitake's books.
