Meet Special Guest

Kathy Halsey, children’s author, is a former English teacher and K-12 school librarian with an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Supervision. While a school librarian, she coordinated 15 successful school visits. Currently Kathy serves on the State Library of Ohio's "Choose to Read Ohio" program and has written curricular toolkits for featured SLO award-winners. She’s SCBWI Ohio Central-South Co-Assistant Regional Advisor. Her move-the-shapes board book, BE A RAINBOW, released April 2024 with KiwiCo Press. Her haiku has been featured on the Poetry Pea podcast and in poetry journals. Kathy chaired the state-wide the Ohio Educational Library Media Association conference as OELMA's Vice President. Her background includes bookselling at an indie bookstore, volunteering for the Buckeye Children’s Book Award, and speaking at literary and library conferences. Kathy lives in Columbus, OH, with her husband and silly Corgi Scrappy Doo.
