Regardless of what stage of your creative career you are at, questions concerning intellectual property, what it is, how to protect yours, whether you’re infringing on someone else’s, not to mention concerns over AI, have no doubt arisen. If you’re looking for answers, then join us for this in-person presentation with Kathleen Ortiz, who will give a brief overview on the importance of maintaining ownership of your IP in various potential partnerships: from licensing IP to publishers, collaborating with other creators, creating content for partnerships and more.

This talk will be of interest to illustrators, writers and translators (so everyone really!).

Additionally, Kathleen will be open to submissions for attendees!

Bio: Kathleen Ortiz

Kathleen Ortiz founded her own agency in 2022, after working in publishing and international licensing for almost 15 years, including roles as Director of Translation, Subsidiary Rights Manager and Literary Agent. She earned her M.S. in Publishing from Pace University and has spent her career helping build and elevate creative brands.

Her focus is on books and media for adults and children, especially with a visual element. She loves media and books that bring humor and joy and inspire others in life. She is a member of the Association of American Literary Agents, Licensing International, and Women in Toys.
