An Illustrator and Author-Illustrator In-Person Event with Agent Kait Feldmann, presented by SCBWI Los Angeles
In this presentation geared towards illustrators and author-illustrators, we will cover some exciting ways to use the book format to storytell. Come hungry to feast your eyes on lots and lots of picture books and graphic novels that play with components like page-turns, gutter, white space, paneling, perspective, color, and more! This workshop will include hands-on practice -- you can bring your own WIP or work off provided prompts.

Portfolio Review Option: $60 for a written portfolio review (20 slots available total). Portfolio Review Parameters: 10 images max, submitted in single PDF file, one image per page. Reviews will be written by Kait and/or remote faculty, to be announced. You will receive the review via email after the event. Kait Lee Feldmann is a children’s book agent at kt literary representing illustrators. She has been romping around children’s book publishing for the past decade, previously as an editor at HarperCollins and Scholastic. Her list as editor included award-winning books that received a Caldecott, Coretta Scott King, and Sibert Honor; the Ezra Jack Keats Award; and appearances on Best of lists for The New York Times, NPR, Kirkus, and more. Kait is hapa (mixed race Chinese/white) and is passionate about championing books by, about, and for BIPOC. In 2020 she received the CBC Diversity Outstanding Achievement Award. Kait resides in a hoarder’s paradise in Los Angeles, surrounded by books. When she’s not reading those, she can often be found playing board games, estate sale hopping, or crafting.
