Looking Back to Move Forward: Using Intentional Reflection in Your Writing Life

Feb 21, 2026

Join us for a write-in at the James M. Duncan branch of the Alexandria library during which Marcie Flinchum Atkins will deliver an inspiring presentation on intentional reflection.

As writers, we sometimes feel like we’re floundering and don’t know what next steps to take. Whether it’s the next step on a project, deciding on a new project, or looking at your writing practices and career as a whole. Intentional reflection can help us know what next steps to take. We’ll practice reflecting, and participants will receive questions for project-based, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reflections.  Bring a notebook or laptop for recording your reflections. The presentation will last 30 minutes. The rest of the time will be filled with writing prompts for a series of about 20-minute writing sprints with breaks in between for those to share who would like to.

This event is made possible by a grant from SCBWI and the Authors Coalition of America.
