NPS Collections Tours and Research Trip--A Mid-Atlantic-MDDEWV Joint Event

Please join Mid-Atlantic NF Coordinator Marcie Atkins on a research tour of the National Park Service (NPS) History Collection, Harpers Ferry Center (HFC) Commissioned Art Collection, and Museum Conservation Labs in Charles Town, West Virginia, on July 1. The behind-the-scenes tour of collection storage includes historic objects, artwork, and archives. During the lab tours conservators will show methods used to treat textiles, books and paper, wooden objects and furniture, and other organic and inorganic artifacts from across the National Park Service. Researchers will also learn about the scope of the collection, how the NPS archives are managed, and how to access materials. NPS History Collection archivists will be on hand to answer questions and discuss research paths for individual projects.
