REVISE AND STRENGTHEN YOUR PICTURE BOOK MANUSCRIPT WITH INTENTION

Okay, you've written a picture book! Now how do you make it better? Award winning author Heidi E.Y. Stemple will pull apart one of her published picture books to look deeply at what makes it successful. She will discuss, intentionality, arc, word choices and heart. You will leave with new eyes for looking at your own manuscript and new skills for revision. A Q&A session will follow immediately afterwards.

PB MANUSCRIPT OR PB DUMMY CRITIQUES

Heidi will offer 10 one-on-one critiques for Picture Book Manuscripts or Picture Book Dummies. Each critique will be 20 minutes via Zoom on April 22nd from 9:00 AM to 12:40 PM with written comments using the official SCBWI critique forms. Your Picture Book Manuscript or Picture Book Dummy submission deadline is March 20th. SCBWI NY: West-Central Upstate Regional Advisor-Patty Wurster will be in contact with you via your registration email with scheduling and submission details.

ABOUT HEIDI E.Y. STEMPLE

Heidi didn’t want to be a writer when she grew up. In fact, after she graduated from college, she became a probation officer in Florida. It wasn’t until she was 28 years old that she gave in and joined the family business, publishing her first short story in a book called Famous Writers and Their Kids Write Spooky Stories. The famous writer was her mom, author Jane Yolen. Since then, she has published more than thirty-five books and numerous short stories and poems, mostly for children. 

Heidi lives and writes on a big old farm in Massachusetts that she shares with a dozen deer, a family of bears, three coyotes, two bobcats, a gray fox, a red fox, tons of birds, and some very fat groundhogs. Once a year she calls and counts owls for the Audubon Christmas Bird Count.

RECORDING

The webinar will be recorded and will be available for one month following the event. Attendees will receive a link and a password by email about two days after the event.

REFUND POLICY

Registration fees for webinars and virtual events are nonrefundable because recordings are available for 30 days following the broadcast.
