And not only will you learn about the craft of creating books for children and the business of publishing, you’ll be inspired by hearing the publishing stories of some of our local authors. Plus, registered attendees will have the opportunity to submit to our in-person and offsite professionals after the conference (many of whom are closed to unsolicited queries). You don’t want to miss it.

Schedule

Here are (more than) a few things to know:

  • The Virtual Conference option includes all of the keynote speeches, Publishing Panel, “My Publishing Story” speakers, announcements, and any breakouts that occur in the main conference room. It does not include breakouts or optional lunch talks that occur outside of the main room.
  • All attendees, virtual and in person, will be able to submit manuscripts or portfolios to our in-person and off-site faculty after the conference. Because many of our faculty are closed to unsolicited submissions, this is a distinct benefit.
  • There are limited opportunities for critiques and/or consultations via the Virtual Conference. Vicky Weber, agent at Creative Media Agency, will do pre-conference written critiques and face-to-face Zoom consultations. Darcy Pattison, will do limited consultations via Zoom about your self-publishing projects.
  • The Virtual Conference will be recorded and available to in-person and virtual attendees for 30 days following the conference.
  • Our In-Person Faculty includes a literary agent, an editor at a traditional publishing house, an art director at a traditional publishing house, and an award-winning, successful children’s literature self-publisher.
  • A self-publishing expert will be included in our in-person conference faculty for (possibly) the first time. Stats show that many of our writers are interested in both traditional and self-publishing.
  • The conference begins on Friday evening, April 17th, at 6:30pm with a keynote address, a panel discussion with our publishing professionals, and more. It ends on Saturday evening, April 18th, at 5:00 PM, but you can watch the conference at your convenience for 30 days.

  • The Virtual Conference price is $75 for SCBWI members, $115 for non-members. It includes all of the keynote speeches, Publishing Panel, “My Publishing Story” speakers, announcements, and any breakouts that occur in the main conference room. It also includes the ability to submit to our in-person and off-site faculty after the conference, many of whom are usually closed to unsolicited queries. It does not include breakouts or optional lunch talks that occur outside of the main room.
