SCBWI Retreat: Make a Book in a Day at Russell Farms!
Join us on Saturday, June 20, from 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. for a creative retreat designed to spark ideas, build storytelling skills, and connect writers and illustrators in a fun, collaborative environment.
Hosted by the North Texas region of Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), this year’s spring retreat brings a fresh new twist with our Picture Book in a Day Retreat. This is a hands-on experience focused on creativity, inspiration, and storytelling fundamentals that writers of all genres can take back to their own work.
This retreat is open to SCBWI North Texas members as well as anyone curious about storytelling and the creative process, including teachers, artists, writers, and creatives from all backgrounds. Whether you write picture books, novels, poetry, or classroom curriculum, you’ll explore how to generate ideas from the world around you, create memorable characters, strengthen plot structure, and think visually about storytelling.
Participants will also have the unique opportunity to collaborate with illustrators and other creatives, offering insight into the visual side of story development and a chance to experience storytelling from a new perspective.
Breakfast, lunch, and sweet treats provided.
